Windsurfing & Kitesurfing
BVI, host to a wealth of watersports.
With its year-round steady trade winds the BVI is a windsurfers paradise. If you don’t want to bring your own gear, then the island has some great rental companies who can hire you top-quality kit and give you the inside track on the best spots to sail.
If you are up for a challenge then the BVI is also home to the annual Highland Spring HiHo Windsurfing and Sailing Adventure where competitors race between the islands each July.
Kite surfing is taking off in the BVI in a big way. Our reliable winds and calm waters make it an ideal spot to learn this new sport, or, if you are already an accomplished kiter, to hone your skills and practice new tricks in our beautiful warm waters.
The BVI Kiteboarding Association can point you in the direction of all the best spots as well as give you tips on safety in the islands.
Both of these sports have a strong following with locals living on the islands so be sure to head down to Nanny Cay to see Owen at Island Surf and Sail before you head out to get some top tips on wind, equipment and locations.
